City of Colton

The city of Colton was incorporated in 1887 and is an American Classic with a very colorful past and proud history. Strategically located in the heart of Southern California, Colton is at the crossroads of the Inland Empire.

It boasts affordable housing, low business taxes, a wide range of community programs for all ages and a very responsive city government. Colton is a full service City with its own Police and Fire Protection, Water and Wastewater Facilities, as well as its own Electric Utility – the second oldest in the State.

The Colton City Council is fully committed to placing people and community first and respects the quality of life associated with the unprecedented growth and development in the city.

Rich in history, tradition and cultural diversity, the Colton City Council recognized that its ancestral heritage provided a basis for forging its new history in the 21st Century. The new logo, unveiled in 1998, combines the past and the present with a futurist adaptation and incorporation of its Carnegie Public Library Building as it stands today and did upon completion in 1908.

Well known as a charming small town with a downtown corridor of authentic character, Colton also boasts historic homes, parks, unique shops and restaurants, alongside the beautifully restored Andrew Carnegie Library Building.
