City of Chino Hills

Ranked #38 on Money Magazine’s 2019 “100 Best Places to Live,” Chino Hills is a suburban community of 82,409 on the edge of a beautiful rural area. Its 3,000 acres of publicly owned open space, 43 parks, and 48 miles of trails make it an ideal choice for families and young professionals.  It is bordered by Diamond Bar, Pomona and Chino to the north, Sleepy Hollow to the west, Yorba Linda to the southwest, and Eastvale and Corona to the east.

Chino Hills has all of the attributes of the perfect city: beautiful landscape, good schools, and a thriving business environment. Since first making Money Magazine’s list in 2005 (and then later in 2012), it has only continued to gain popularity as one of California’s premier communities. It is considered the 11th safest city in California out of 50 by Safewise.

According to Chino Hills’ local government website, it ranked #4 out of 106 California cities with a population between 50,000 to 100,000 with the least violent crime. In addition, it was voted one of the “100 Best Communities for Young People” for 2011 and 2012 by America’s Promise Alliance.

Chino Hills is a diverse area. Niche.com reports that 34% of the population are Asian, 30% White and 29% Hispanic. Approximately 41.2 percent of residents have bachelor’s degrees or higher. The Income, Earnings, and Poverty Data from the 2007 American Community Survey conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau ranked Chino Hills 6th in the United States with a Median Household Income of $100,371.

On top of all these accolades, Chino Hills is home to numerous blue ribbon schools. Four of its 10 elementary schools and one of its middle schools were classified as California Distinguished Schools. All of its educational institutions are rated above average.

There are also 111 colleges within 50 miles of Chino Hills enrolling a total of 1,044,466 students. The nearest college, California State Polytechnic University Pomona in Pomona, is 9.4 miles from Chino Hills.

Chino Hills is considered a seller’s market, meaning there are more buyers than homes. According to Realtor.com’s September 2020 statistics, “There are 306 active homes for sale in Chino Hills, CA, which spend an average of 68 days on the market. Some of the hottest neighborhoods near Chino Hills, CA are Sierra del Oro, Bryant Ranch, Travis Ranch, East Lake Village.”

Residents of the area regularly enjoy hiking the area’s many trails and staying actively involved in their community. Places of interest in Chino Hills include the Hindu temple BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, which was intricately carved out of white sandstone and white carera marble; the serene and well-maintained trails of Chino Hills State Park, which have been called “an island of tranquility in a sea of urbanization,” and English Springs Park, which has a pond and a playground.

There is also The Shoppes at Chino Hills, a 375,000-square-foot open-air shopping mall that contains approximately 80 stores and restaurants.

Because of Chino Hills’ reputation, Inland Empire economics expert John Housing called it “one of Southern California’s best-kept secrets.”
