We all may know someone who would benefit from a free special phone through the State of California. If you or a loved-one miss information in phone conversations, have a hard time holding or dialing the phone, have trouble getting to the phone, have vision loss, or other challenges in using a standard phone, free phone equipment is available through the California Telephone Access Program (CTAP).
CTAP is a state-mandated program of the California Public Utilities Commission. CTAP provides specialized telephone equipment and services to residents who have an active phone line and who have difficulty hearing, seeing, moving, speaking, or remembering. Your age and income level are not considered. All services and equipment are free of charge andare paid for through a small surcharge on the phone bill of every Californian.
